**Note - The story that follows is one resulting from an accident and is not a daredevil stunt. Roger Woodward was a victim of a horrifying accident. His story is an inspiration to all.
On Saturday, July 9, 1960, history was made when Roger Woodward survived plummeting over the Canadian Falls.
Roger, along with his sister Deanne, 17, and neighbor James Honeycut, 40, set off on a boat ride in the Niagara River. When their boat stalled, it quickly drifted into the turbulent upper Niagara River rapids, and the three boaters were swept overboard.
Deanne was rescued by two quick thinking bystanders, a mere 15 feet from the precipice. Roger was swept over the brink of the falls.
"I could tell when I went over the Falls. My feet were down and my head was up, and then my head was down and my feet were up," recounted Roger.
Luckily, Roger was spotted by Capt. Clifford Keech aboard the Maid of the Mist, who rescued him.
Unfortunately Honeycut perished. See the gripping story in "Niagara Falls: Legends & Daredevils", now showing at the IMAX Theatre.
